5 Things I Love About Coffee - How About You?

I'm a coffee fan. It's an inherent part of my life I guess, and I spend plenty of time trying new coffee and new coffee makers as well as hanging out in cafes. Here are five things I love and maybe you do to about coffee.

I love the aroma of coffee in the morning! The smell tickles my nose and my taste buds, and makes me smile

I love my first cup of coffee in the morning. It's so uplifting, at times bordering on spiritual, and absolutely calming and relaxing. And when the morning happens to be a train wreck, trying to get three little kids, dressed, ready, and out the door to school and me off to work on time as well, relaxing might be the wrong word but it helps me cope happily.

I love the taste of coffee! There is so much variety, ranging from dark roasts to light roasts, to my favorite local blend, to my all time favorite, a Columbian Supremo from Don Francisco in San Francisco. I usually start with a couple of sips black, deeply inhaling as I sip, and eventually add a small dollop of cream.

I love coffee flavor in other foods and drinks. Kahlua is a wonderful coffee flavored alcoholic beverage I love, and I love coffee ice cream, especially Ben and Jerry's which actually seems to have enough flavor and caffeine to replace a cup of coffee. Recently I've discovered coffee flavored cheese cake, and I must find a recipe to make it myself. Coffee flavors, from real coffee please, just go so well with so many different foods and drinks I'm sometimes amazed. And for Saint Patricks day, I bet I'll end up having an Irish Coffee or two, with plenty of whipped cream please.

I love drinking coffee in cafes. I'll often take a couple of hours in the middle of a hectic work day and go to one of my two favorite local coffee shops. I'll grab a coffee, sit down with my laptop or perhaps some paperwork, and work for a while. Despite people watching, maybe a Danish or other pastry, and sometimes chatting with a few people, I'll usually get more done than if I were sitting in the office. It's a great change of pace, and the cup of coffee is an integral part of it.

Yes, I love coffee. Most often I make it myself, one cup at a time, and savor it.
